Office 365 Integration

The Office 365 integration feature allows Office 365 subscribers to view, edit, and collaborate on files stored within VisualVault using the Office 365 Web user interface.  

This feature allows Office 365 subscribers to keep documents in their organization’s VisualVault repository and use the Office 365 user interface for viewing, editing, and multi-author collaboration. Changes to documents will create a new revision within VisualVault.

Viewing Word Documents in MS Word

1. Click on the vertical menu icon
2. Hover mouse over 'Open/View Document'
3. Select 'Open/View using Office Web App' to launch the in-browser application.
   Note: Selecting View/Open Document will open the document in the document viewer.

Editing Word Documents in MS Word

To open an MS Word document for editing in Office 365:

1. Click on the verticle menu icon
2. Hover mouse over 'Edit Document'
3. Select 'Edit using Office App' to open the Word application on your machine, or 'Edit using Office Web App' to launch the in-browser application.

Add or edit the text within the document. The document will auto-save as you make changes. The Save status can be seen to the right of the document title. A new document revision will be saved to VisualVault when the last user editing the document closes the window. Incremental saves while the document is open will not create a new document revision.

When changes have been made to the document and Office 365 has been closed, the document will be updated as a new revision in the VisualVault Document Library. Refreshing the Document Library will show the updated revision number.
