# OpenSearch

VisualVault Version 6 uses a new search engine, OpenSearch, for all Document related queries including full text searching of document contents.

Document metadata, full-text contents, and user permissions are stored within the search engine index resulting in consistent query response times.

To perform a full-text search across all documents the user has access to, complete the following steps:

1. Select *Search* from the ribbon.
2. Navigate to the *Advanced Search* page.
3. Select the folders to perform the search on.
4. Choose *Full Text* from the dropdown.
5. Input the search in the field.
  - Check the box to *Enable Fuzzy Search to Expand Results.*
6. Click the *Search* button.
